MARBEC - MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation and Conservation - is a research unit whose objective is the study of marine biodiversity in lagoon, coastal and offshore ecosystems, at different integration levels, molecular, individual, population and community aspects and the way humans use this biodiversity. It gathers some of the staff of 4 organizations: CNRS, IRD, Ifremer, University of Montpellier (http://www.umr-marbec.fr/en/?lang=en).
Role and Commitment of key person(s)
Behzad Mostajir (m, PhD 1996 biological oceanography). He is a plankton food web ecologist at MARBEC with 20 years of experience in leading international mesocosm experiments (Canada and France). He created the MEDIMEER (2002-2015) and was PI of FP7 MESOAQUA European project (2009-2012). He lead the conceptualization and construction of the new floating transportable mesocosm platform (LAMP) equipped with autonomous Sensor System which was deployed successfully in the Cretan Sea in close collaboration with the HCMR scientists in the frame of MESOAQUA. Sébastien Mas (m, PhD 2008 biological oceanography). Research Engineer at MEDIMEER (OSU-OREME). Specialized on marine bio-optics and use of sensor for studies of the ecosystem functioning, management of mesocosm experiments. Project Role: Technical Coordinator MEDIMEER; Contribution to WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP8 and WP9.
Francesca Vidussi(f, PhD 1998 biological oceanography). She is a plankton ecologist at MARBEC with 10 years of experience in leading mesocosm experiments in marine ecosystems, in particular related to climate change (warming, acidification, UVB). ISI WoS: 29 papers, h-Index 15. Project Role: Contribution to WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6, WP8 and WP9.
David Parin (m, technichian 2001) is responsible for electronical and electrical devices, and sensors deployment at MEDIMEER (OSU-OREME).Project Role: Contribution to WP6, WP7, WP8 and WP9.
