Partner Description
Tvärminne Zoological Station (TZS) of University of Helsinki is the site of the Tvärminne Mesocosm Facility (TMF) located by the brackish Baltic Sea,at the entrance to the Gulf of Finland. Established in 1902, TZS has a long history of experimental and field studies in marine biology and related areas. TZS is fully operational all year around. In addition to the station’s own research teams, TZS is annually visited by ca. 250 scientists from all over the world. TZS is part of the marine research infrastructure FINMARI (http://www.finmari-infrastructure.fi/), which is coordinated by SYKE, and has been appointed to the Finnish roadmap for RI:s. TZS coordinates the Finnish node of EMBRC (http://www.embrc.eu) with an associated partnership.
